Multidimensional
Movement Concepts is a one-stop information source created
by two artists interested in the past, present, and future
of contemporary dance, and its commentary on the human
experience.
Aline
and Nicole embarked on a three month educational and
cultural journey through Europe to provide a resource for
individuals interested in the fine arts, contemporary
dance, and culture overseas. After months of preliminary
research, we compiled an extensive travel itinerary to
encourage cross-cultural dance exchange.
Observing and participating within these dance communities
allowed us to familiarizing ourselves with each dance
family. We sought out dance companies and their artistic
directors, attend classes, dance festivals, performances,
in search of a deep/underground understanding of the dance
scene in each location. Our travels included London,
Germany, and the Netherlands. Each day we wrote detailed
and thoughtful journals, including contact information,
facts, performance reviews, and our interpretation of the
experiences. Exploring an unfamiliar environment and a
differing cultural system can be an intimidating task, but
the vast dance network welcomed us with open arms, which
allowed us to bring this knowledge to all individuals
interested in traveling to dance, thus creating an
information highway of our research and
development.
